Prescription Refills

Requests for prescription refills will be honored if the patient is up to date on required visits, including Well Child Exams.  Prescription refills will be filled by your Primary Care Physician only and may take up to 72 hours to process.  Please plan accordingly.  Medication changes will require a visit with your child's Primary Care Physician.

Requests for Prescription refills should be left on our refill line during regular business hours Monday-Friday by calling 781-344-3791 Option 2.  Please leave the patient's name, date of birth, the medication to be refilled, the dosage taken and the pharmacy where the prescription is to be sent.  Please be aware that by law, prescriptions for controlled substances, such as Adderall, Riatlin, etc., must either be picked up at our office or mailed home.  Our prescription refill line is monitored continuously throughout regular business hours Monday-Friday, and requests are addressed by physicians at the end of the work day.

Some medications require periodic rechecks for your child with their physician.  For example, changes in blood pressure, weight and effectiveness of the medication may require a change in dosage or type of medication.  You physician will let you know if such monitoring is appropriate.  Please understand that there are some medications that our physicians my not be able to continue refilling if your child has not come in for these important recheck visits.

Health Savings Accounts and Flex Spending Accounts now require a prescription for many over the counter medications.  There is a $5 charge for each over the counter medication prescription issued to cover the cost of overhead.  This charge is not covered by insurance.  Each prescription is valid for one year.  Please check with your insurance carrier for a list of over the counter medications requiring a prescription.
